Dead Island - Even More Zombie Killing Goodness

I love me some zombie movies. I’m not a horror movie mega fan or anything like that, I enjoy a good one every now and then, but when something comes out that has zombies in it I’ll purchase it immediately. I own a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide as well as it’s “sequel” World War Z. I own zombie action figures. Yes, I’m a zombie geek.

So while everyone’s going crazy for Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Guitar Hero 3, Super Mario Galaxy and whatever else is upcoming, I’m trembling in anticipation for Left 4 Dead. Unfortunately delayed until next year, Left 4 Dead promises everything I’ve wanted in a zombie dream game. Lots of gore, lots of guns, tons of undead ganging up on you and groups to survive the onslaught with. If you haven’t seen the trailers and videos floating around on Gamespot, GameTrailers or Youtube, get searching now.

Even better, news is coming out now of another zombie game, also for the X-Box 360 and PC set to come out sometime next year. Brought to the unworthy by Techland, Dead Island will take place on an island (really?) following a plane crash where you must find your missing wife before hordes of the undead find her first. According to Kotaku the game is supposed to have awesome damage modeling that could feature missing limbs and exposed flesh. This alone could make it one hell of an experience, blowing body parts off zombies while they shrug it off and continue in your direction missing an arm or leg or two. A new AI feature will be implimented. Further details will be needed but it’s said you’ll be able to take advantage of group and individual behavior, whatever that means. You’ll also reportedly be able to use the world around you, which means the ability to throw coconuts at zombies may finally become a reality.

2008 will be the year for zombie fans at this rate.
