Some of you might have heard that Larry Craig will be appearing on NBC’s Today Show on Wednesday to talk to Matt Lauer about his inability to get play in a bathroom without getting caught by police. I have no intention of tuning in because I’m sure MSNBC will replay the good parts 500 times between 9 and 5 tomorrow unless Britney Spears is spotted in a drunken state skinnydipping on some beach somewhere. Interestingly, it turns out Larry Craig won’t be the only one coming to the dance tomorrow. He’s bringing Mrs. Craig with him. This is normal for politicians that get caught up in scandals of course. You show up with your wife and it makes you look sympathetic, or at least straight in Craig’s case.
While Larry Craig hopes to calm the uproar over his arrest in a men’s bathroom for soliciting sex, Suzanne Craig might just end up being the star of the show if the NY Daily News is any indication. They provide this quote that comes from the taped segment:
Suzanne Craig: “I felt like the floor was falling out from under me. I felt almost like I was going down a drain for a few moments.”
It doesn’t say anything about Matt Lauer immediately losing his shit and cracking up or Larry Craig smacking himself on the forehead after realizing that bringing her along might’ve been a bad idea after all. Going down the drain, not unlike a toilet being flushed in the bathroom of a men’s washroom. An excellent choice of words. Lets hope Wednesday’s interview gives us further laugh out loud moments.
