I caught my first glimpse of Kid Nation last week on CBS and am conflicted on my feelings about the show. I’m not going to get into the whole child labor law or abuse allegations or whatever you want to call it because I doubt they’re holding the kids hostage with a machine gun telling them they can’t leave. What’s the worst thing that’ll happen, the kids will work and get some exercise? My concern is primarily whether the show entertains me and while I did find the concept and execution pretty stupid in the half hour I caught of it, there is something intriguing about it that makes you curious enough to turn it on the following week and see what happens next. This is coming from someone who hates kids too so I have to give CBS some props in making me give the slightest shit about a show that features them.
