Ellen DeGeneres And Her Little Dog Too

Poor Ellen DeGeneres. First she cries on her radio show and people make fun of her for her mini breakdown over a canine, then after gaining a great deal of sympathy through the media and anyone else with a heart, the dog gets given away again to a third family. Yes, in a bit of breaking news~! last night it turns out the dog was given away to another family, making my prediction that Ellen would get the dog back much more unlikely. I still believe she’ll get the thing back probably after the third family sells it to her for a sum of money. Actually, they probably can’t do that lest they break the contract of the poor animal shelter that’s being so mistreated in the news.

Oh yeah, last night on Keith Olbermann they showed a statement coming from some chick that works for the shelter. I missed where they mentioned her role in the shelter but through her released statement she revealed that she couldn’t understand why everyone was attacking the shelter like they were the bad guys. Even better, she said that if they had been considering giving the dog back to Ellen DeGeneres there’s no way they’d consider doing it now because of how they’ve been treated. Yes, the animal agency are the victims here. The guy from E!’s Talk Soup came on and said something about a policy the shelter has where they don’t give animals to people younger than 14, which of course is pretty ridiculous since the 12 year old girl that Ellen gave the dog to has a mom.

They just mentioned on MSNBC that the reason they don’t allow the animals to be passed around from one family to another is because they believe the process needs to go through the agency since you never know if the other family is equipped to take care of the animal. I guess checking the 12 year old girl’s family out once they were given the dog made too much sense at the time.

It’s now turning into a legal battle as people continue to send death threats to the shelter. I find myself far more interested in this story than I should be. On one hand, there’s clearly a contract clause that was violated regardless of how stupid said clause is. On the other, you’d think this animal shelter would cave in at some point because they’re doing their business no favors with all this bad publicity. While there’s clearly one idiot working for them, surely the general consensus throughout the agency can’t be that they’re being somehow victimized by the media and the public.

If I were that third family that has the dog now I’d be worried about some nut breaking in to steal the dog, either for Ellen DeGeneres or to hold it for ransom. If there’s people sending death threats in over this situation, nothing else that happens is really going to surprise me at this point.
