I read an article over at PCMag.com today talking about how spammers are now mailing out mp3s with popular songs in the file name but when the song is played, it’s actually a woman telling you to invest in a certain stock. Besides the fact that that’s just mean, doesn’t that sound like the most ridiculous marketing ploy you’ve ever heard? Lets say I’m stupid enough play this file some random person sends me through the internet to begin with. I’m expecting to hear a Smashing Pumpkins song but instead I start hearing something about how I need to invest in some stock because it’s going to be widely successful. Is my reaction supposed to be “Hey, you know maybe this chick is right and I should go immediately invest in this random stock that some random voice just told me about in a file that was concealed in an email as a music mp3!” Is there seriously one person in the entire world that’s going to actually do that? What a waste of time and energy. You’re better off sending me a random text written email. Actually, has any ever taken stock advice from a random email for that matter? You’d think people that were into the stock market would have the common sense to not take investment advice from a person you’ve never talked to before.
