I haven’t checked the celebrity news wires yet to see what’s going on with Britney Spears today but I’m assuming it’s a slow day as MSNBC hasn’t stopped the presses to cover her. I did find an article today from the New York Daily News where Jim Farber reviews her latest cluster$#*% errr I mean her latest CD Blackout, appropriately named due to the amount of times she probably passed out during it’s creation process.
Farber seems to have the same complaints I tend to have about most of today’s pop singers, that being that the songs sound as though they’re being sung by that robot from Lost In Space. Lets face it, Britney Spears didn’t get where she is today because she has fantastic vocal talents. She got where she is today because she came along early in the pop star boom of the late 90s, she had a gigantic marketing campaign behind her, she could dance and males found her attractive. When it comes album time, her music has to be cooked up in a production studio somewhere to make it seem like she had some kind of singing ability. Has she ever done a live performance where she hasn’t had to lip sync?
Britney lashes out at the media in a couple of songs, something that’s almost apropos nowadays for artists that find themselves criticized in the news for their train wreck lives. It’s kinda funny to hear that she’s daring the media to come after her in one song considering the last thing she needs is make any more of a fool of herself in front of the cameras than she already has.
