Years ago, I’m talking when I was maybe 5 or 6, I was a huge baseball fan that cheered the New York Mets on louder than anyone. Roger McDowell, the relief pitcher at the time, was a hero to me for some weird ass reason. I was a big fan of catcher Barry Lyons. I remember Keith Hernandez crawling through mud in attempt to get to third base in time during the 1988 playoffs as the Dodgers made their way to victory. I hated the Dodgers, and I hated Orel Hershiser. I lay about one quarter of the venom in me squarely on the Dodgers’ shoulders. Not long afterward, Roger McDowell got traded to the Phillies, and after plenty of scandals and strikes I gave up on baseball and never went back.
It’s nice to see that the MLB is still full of shit. The NY Post is reporting that drug testers let team officials know they’ll be coming in for a visit a day beforehand when they request passes for the stadium and parking lot. Oh, but the officials don’t tell the team or anything, because it’s against the rules. No one would ever break a rule or anything.
Here’s an idea. Set up the drug testing area in a place outside the building and force every player to walk out and get tested after the testers pull up to the stadium. Just make it a mobile testing lab or something. What kind of tough steroid policy only tests five people per visit anyway?
