Trent Reznor keeps giving me reasons to reaffirm my love of him by stating in a New York Magazine interview that he was a member of recently shut down torrent site OiNK. It’s not even that he used torrents, but rather it’s that he’s basically telling the RIAA to stick it. I can’t help but cheer that sort of rebellious nature. Here’s a guy that’s proud to stand by his beliefs, and I can’t help but respect that regardless of what anyone might think about those particular beliefs.
Trent said a lot of things in the interview, given alongside Saul Williams who will be joining Trent for a project that I can’t help but get a little excited about. He’s not feeling iTunes, comparing it to Sam Goody, a place I’ve never frequented because I live in a backwards little town. I’ll take his word for it that it’s a lame place to go for music. OiNK was the word’s greatest music store in his words due to their particular rules regarding content and quality.
I wonder if the RIAA will come after him after he’s now unequivocally stated he steals music. Doubtful, not while there’s single moms out there that don’t have enough money for a good legal fight.
