Damon Wayans Defends Don Imus

Damon WayansThe View is one of those shows like Ellen DeGeneres where I have a slight inclining to watch sometimes because it seems like a lot of crazy stuff goes on. I always opt not to because I figure there’s not enough wackiness to make it worth my while. That, and I don’t know when the View is actually on. I could look, but that would require effort.

I caught some of the Damon Wayans View segment on Scarborough this morning. Wayans said the outcry against Don Imus was silly because it was a freedom of speech thing and the girls were in fact nappy headed hos. Wayans words not mine. He said black people were laughing about it while white people were the ones upset. I can vouch for this in my own little way after polling some of my black friends around the time of the scandal who all thought the players were out for money. We were all shocked at the explosion of media coverage over the whole thing.

The subject moved to the topic of Wayans being single and looking. The hosts and mostly female audience became completely appalled when Wayans suggested he’d like to find a nice woman that’d cook for him. I guess women that cook aren’t considered strong and independent now or something.
