I just caught this on CNN because Contessa Brewer is on MSNBC talking about Britney and well … she’s being Contessa Brewer so I needed to step away for awhile.
I caught a breaking news story just as I flipped over about a Russian cult that have barricaded themselves underground because they believe the world is going to end in May. May is of course a good six months away, so I have no idea why they’re opting to do this now instead of enjoying what little life they think they have left. I hope this underground hole they’re hiding in has food for all them as they wait this out. They have threatened to kill themselves if someone tries to pull them out, and there’s kids in the cave so for now the Russians are backing off.
If the world is going to end in May, why would you think that hiding in a hole is going to help you? Do you think the world around you is going to explode and disappear leaving this 20ft by 20ft hole suspended in space complete with breathable air and normal gravity? Or does this involve some kind of entity that’s supposed to kill everyone on Earth? You think if you hide in this here hole they’re not going to find you? This also begs the question why they’d threaten to kill themselves if someone tries to take them out. If they have no problem dying to prevent themselves from leaving this hole then why hide in the hole anyway?
That’s not the funniest part though. No, the funniest part comes when one asks where the cult leader is in all of this. He’s outside the hole you see. Why? According to the quote I heard from the reporter, coming from the man himself: “I’m going to keep an eye out on things out here”. I haven’t laughed so hard at a single quote in months.
