Troubling news this morning regarding Dennis Quaid and his two newborn twins. They’re currently in intensive care according to MSNBC because they were given the wrong dose of Heparin after a technician mistakenly placed an adult sized dose in the wrong storage area. Instead of getting the normal 10 unit dose normally given to babies, they were instead given 10,000 units. Twice apparently. The staff realized what was going on after the babes started to bleed out, and they’ve since been give a drug that counteracts the effects of Heparin. 13 other patients also received the wrong dosage.
Pretty terrible news so close to Thanksgiving. Best wishes to the Quaid family.
